This book is intended primarily for those persons who are desirous of obtaining a practical knowledge of the subject of Electricity, but are unable to take a complete course in Electrical Engineering. It is the opinion of the author that such persons should have a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of the subject, in order that they may easily understand the applications in practice. Numerous examples arc solved throughout the book, which serve to illustrate the practical application of certain laws and principles and give the reader an opportunity to more readily grasp their true significance.

The text is based, to a certain extent, upon a series of lectures given in the evening classes in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Armour Institute of Technology. The arrangement is not the one usually followed, and to some it may not appear to be logical; but it is one the author has found very satisfactory.
