Excerpt: ... of Piccolhominus, a bad habit of bod was ascribed to the isthmus having compresse the vena cava and aorta, and deranged their functions; and Azzariti attributed an aneurism of the aorta, which had arisen between the appendages of the diaphragm, to the same cause. In general, however, the isthmus, being slender, cannot occasion any serious mischief.
