I hereby certify to the above as the true record of the incorporation of the Amphictyon Society. Given this 12th day of July, 1859. We, the undersigned students of Hillsdale College,for the purpose of gaining intellectual culture and improvement in oratory, do hereby organize ourselves into a literary association, and adopt for our government the following constitution and by-laws: CONSTITUT1ON AND BY-LAWS OF THE AMPHlCTYON SOClETY OF HlLLSDALE COLLEGE CONSTlTUTlON. ARTICLE I. NAME. This Association shall be known as the Amphictyon Society of Hillsdale College. ARTICLE II. MOTTO. The motto of this Society shall be "Inveniam Viam aut Faciam." ARTICLE III. OFFICERS. Section:'i. Elected Officers. The following-named officers shall be elected by ballot at the beginning of every college term, a majority of votes being necessary to an election: President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, First and Second Critics, First and Second Marshals and a Prudential Committee of three. The President, Recording Secretary and Chairman of the Prudential Committee shall constitute an Examining Committee. Section 2. Appointed Officer. A Chaplain shall be appointed by the President at the beginning of every college term. Section 3. Choice Of Finance Committee. At the beginning of every spring term there shall be elected a Treasurer, a Historian and a Finance Committee of three. They shall hold office one year. ARTICLE IV. Duties Of Officers. Section I.
