Scientific Training for Triathletes represents a new paradigm in sports training and education: a manual that permits the athlete to understand exactly how his or her body responds to exercise. Complete with easy to understand diagrams, Scientific Training for Triathletes presents the latest exercise science in layperson's terms. It explains how to design workouts and training programs based on the researched facts of the human body, rather than rumors, fads, or marketing hype. It is extensively referenced, so that the reader always has the ability to look up the original source of the information in order to learn more about any particular subject. In addition, Scientific Training for Triathletes includes chapters on the risks and benefits of diet, supplements, and accessories. These facts are also individually referenced. The athlete will no longer need to depend on what he or she heard at the gym or read in a magazine "advertorial."
