9780954702083: Lama Charlie's Big Bang and Whimper

Lama Charlie's Big BANG and Whimper is a dark comedy about the fate of planet earth at the hands of human folly and greed. Follow disrobed monk and failing Buddhist, Charlie, as he tries to save the planet from those responsible for its upkeep, including religious organisations and world leaders. When his wife finds out about his affair, Lama Charlie seizes the opportunity to escape to The Conference of World Religions, conveniently being held on the other side of the world, and during his journey, is coerced into an act of heroism that serves to catapult him into the public eye. With his new found fame comes danger and responsibility, and Charlie is forced to make some tough decisions. Lama Charlie is about being real, however incorrect that might be!

From the Author:

Well it's a book about the two crucial problems confronting all people today. The first is the state of our world, [and] the second problem is...this: people being so caught up in the systems that sustain them that they can't find time or insight or energy to devote to the main problem. That's the cycle of entrapment, and that's what Lama Charlie sets out to highlight. This kind of satire speaks to kindred souls - revolutionary souls - that want to see things change, often by smashing down what's out there at the moment because it's failing anyway.

From the Back Cover:

When his wife finds out about his affair, failing Buddhist Lama Charlie seizes the opportunity for escape bestowed by the benevolent hand of Precious Teacher, his guru. He sets off to The Conference of World Religions, conveniently being held on the other side of the world. On the way, however, Charlie is coerced into an act of heroism that serves to catapult him into the public eye and engenders the wrath of the religious establishment. With his new found fame come danger and responsibility, and Charlie is forced to make some tough decisions. Does he have the gumption, if not the savoir faire, to save himself, his marriage, his family, and, equally importantly the planet itself? Ultimately, Lama Charlie needs to be real, however incorrect that might be.
