Aodh Bui Mac Cruitin (c. 1680 1755) was one of a group of prolific County Clare poets writing throughout the 18th century, though he spent periods in Dublin and on the European mainland. He holds the distinction of being the only Irish poet to be printed during the 18th-century, and yet this Field Day edition is the first ever collection of his poems to be published. Notes and glossaries accompany the poems to shed light on their meaning and set the historical context. Vincent Morley's book is an invaluable resource for general readers and students of Irish literature.
