This is the first book ever produced exclusively on the subject of corporate identity manuals. It comes at a time when more and more corporations are seeing the need for such a manual to be used as a guideline for all aspects of corporate identification. The whole field of corporate identification in general is a relatively new one, and it is likely that the first corporate identity manual was produced less than 20 years ago. Since that time, though, literally hundreds of corporations (perhaps thousands) have felt the need to put down in print the exact standards for the visual presentation of all corporate-related, materials. This book includes the corporate identity manuals of thirteen varying companies. Each of the thirteen manuals i presented as closely as possible to the format of the original manual. Whenever possible, the entire manual is shown. (In a few cases it was impractical to include every page; for example, corporate color swatches, since this book is reproduced in black and white.) The thirteen companies represent a variety of different types of business. However, they share on common trait-- each has a corporate identity manual that is extremely well done. While some are large(nearly 100 pages) and others are small (four pages), each is apparently very functional. And taken as a group, the thirteen manuals contained herein serve the reader as a virtual textbook on how to put together an outstanding corporate identity manual.
