The book has over 160 pages cataloguing over 80 quilts and some smaller items. The quilts are all documented individually and photographed in full colour as a whole and most have at least one if not more photographs of the finer details. The earliest coverlet recorded in the collection dates from the first half of the 18th Century. The diversity of the collection is remarkable with excellent examples of quilting, broderie perse, patchwork and applique. The designs range from medallion, hexagons, tumbling blocks, log cabin, crazy quilts and stars. There are some absolutely fascinating unique quits in the collection with many combining several techniques and some with extremely bold colours and patterns. "Through the Needle's Eye" This text is an excellent reference book for anyone interested in the history of British quilts. It is the only available resource on the extensive York Castle Museum Patchwork and Quilt Collection.
