Best known in the States for his work on the Warren icon, Vampirella, Sanjulian has been rightly called "an artist's artist" for his brilliant sense of composition and use of color - it's the kind of thing civillians just enjoy, while fellow illustrators make furious mental notes for future reference. Now, for the first time, we get to see the planning, the research, and the magic that goes into Sanjulian?s flawless creations. Also featured is a full color gallery of Sanjulian's favorite paintings, as well as an introduction by the equally legendary Jim Warren.

His full given name is Manuel Perez Clemente Sanjulian. His full given talents have yet to be so easily labeled, as Sanjulian's work spans the entire spectrum of illustration, and the gamut of genres. Seen by many as a fantasy art master, thanks to his association with the classic Warren years, this constitutes but one star in a constellation filled with pinpoints of artistic brilliance. 1970 is the year Sanjulian's visions entered American icon status. His work for Warren Magazine titles like Creepy, Eerie, and Famous Monsters had gained him valuable U.S. attention, but his first Vampirella cover for issue #12 marked the beginning of a love affair between Sanjulian and Vampi. Ever since those heady headless days of horror covers, he's been in demand from practically every important U.S. publisher, from Dell, Ace, DAW, Bantam, Fawcett, Berkeley, Grove Press, Pocket, Harlequin, just to name a few. Sanjulian's also worked on such diverse projects as for Reader's Digest and horror king Clive Barker. As further evidence of the artist's renaissance-man status, and his work has appeared in many fine art galleries in Europe.
