A revised, updated and enlarged edition of a book first published in German in 1896, this edition is based on subsequent editions of 1937 and 1956, translated into English by Ronald Ball. Uniforms from 1700 (some even earlier) to 1937 are covered in text and 1,600 illustrations -- with the majority of the title devoted to Army attire, and lesser sections for naval and aviation forces. Throughout uniforms are illustrated in b/w sketches of ranks of up to 17 figures. Almost 40 armies are covered with two, Germany and Italy, being further described in regional or affiliation sections. 483 pages including glossary.
