Críticas:

"The new book Carolina Herrera: 35 Years of Fashion, out earlier this month from Rizzoli, celebrates Herrera's anniversary in the fashion industry and is the first collection to showcase her entire career. The tome traces her designs over the years, focusing on the sophisticated, feminine silhouettes and dresses Herrera is known for. Which makes sense -- she grew up dress shopping with her grandmother at Balenciaga in Venezuela and sewing clothing for her dolls as a girl." -New York Magazine "In celebration of the fashion house's 35th anniversary comes Carolina Herrera (Rizzoli), a lavish monograph that traces the evolution of the supremely elegant designer through interviews with friends and colleagues, as well as new photography of Herrera's work dating back to her 1981 debut collection." -W Magazine "As her big 35th anniversary approached, Carolina Herrera looked back on her career, distilling favorite imagery into a celebratory book published by Rizzoli. She found plenty of diversity - tons of fashion has come and gone since 1981 - but also a consistent adherence to elegance and chic. For this collection, Herrera wanted to look back, specifically to her first collection, and draw from it." --Women's Wear Daily "This book will make the perfect edition to anyone's coffee table and is filled with tons of beautiful images to inspire." --HarpersBazaar.com "I like glamour, I like beauty, and I like women to look really beautiful," exclaimed Carolina Herrera at her book party last night at New York City hot spot Omar's. And it was easy for the crowd that assembled, including sports superstar Serena Williams, model and coder Karlie Kloss, and celebrated actress Priyanka Chopra. As others like Broadway's Ana Villafae, Olivia Palermo, and J.J. Martin took in the elegant surroundings punctuated with iconic imagery from Herrera's three decades in fashion, the designer reflected on her work. "I thought they are timeless," added Herrera of her designs, "I could wear them now. I was really happy with the memories when I saw them all together. Memories never age." --Vogue.com "The first name in American elegance, Carolina Herrera's style exudes luxury, femininity, and impeccable taste, seen here as the house celebrates its 35th anniversary." -The Society Diaries "Carolina Herrera has inspired a litany of artists and designers over her three-and-a-half decade career defined by refined glamour and prestige. The book details a visual survey of her innovative designs through archived images, new photographs from her more recent work, and interviews with her colleagues and peers." --E Magazine, The Entity Haute Couture

Reseña del editor:

The first name in American elegance, Carolina Herrera has distinguished herself in the global fashion world with a style that exudes luxury, femininity, and impeccable taste. Encouraged by friend and admirer Diana Vreeland to open her fashion house in 1981, Herrera s collections are favoured by First Ladies (from Jackie Kennedy to Michelle Obama), celebrities, inter- national royalty, and her own faithful clientele for their refinement, timelessness, and glamour. The first complete portrait of this influential designer s career, this monograph is both a celebration of three-and-a-half decades of the house s work and a look forward. Organized into chapters that highlight signatures of Herrera s work, the book illustrates the distinctive innovation and caliber of her designs (she is one of the few American designers who still employ couture-trained ateliers team). The text, by veteran fashion writer J.J. Martin, includes quotes by colleagues and friends, interviews, and behind-the- scenes reporting. In addition to archival images, the lavish visual materials include new photography of Herrera s work from her 1981 debut to the present. Art directed by Fabien Baron, with a foreword by Suzy Menkes, this book is an exciting look at one of the leading figures in American fashion.
