From School Library Journal:

Grade 2-4-Large-print and simplified accounts make the events of two famous space missions accessible to young readers and listeners. Apollo 11 condenses the previous history of space exploration into a few short sentences, briefly describes the Saturn V rocket and the Apollo spacecraft, and then recounts the mission itself. Apollo 13 deals solely with the details of that mission. The clear, colorful photos and short texts will appeal to browsers while supplying minimal information for report writers. The basic facts are presented simply and accurately, although Apollo 13 erroneously describes carbon dioxide as poisonous. Glossaries offer definitions of varying quality for words that appear in boldface in the text. Some of the choices seem frivolous ("complicated" and "equipment"), or inconsistent ("liftoff" and "launchpad" are included in Apollo 11, but not "launch," which is an entry in Apollo 13). The definition given for "visor" in Apollo 11 would be correct if the astronauts were wearing baseball caps, but certainly does not describe any part of Buzz Aldrin's space helmet. There are many books available on America's lunar space flights for this age group, such as Michael Cole's Apollo 13: Space Emergency and Apollo 11: First Moon Landing (o.p.; both Enslow, 1995) and Barbara Hehner's fine First on the Moon (Hyperion, 2000).
