David Hockney, OM, CH, RA (b. 1937) is an English painter, draughtsman, printmaker, stage designer and photographer. An important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s, he is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. The text of the book is an edited version of 25 hours of taped conversations between David Hockney and Nikos Stangos which took place in London in the summer of 1975. The book reproduces almost all of Hockney's paintings and graphic works, as well as a large number of his drawings done by the date of the publishing of this book (1976).
