Todd Byrne was born on November 4, 1974, in Rockville, Connecticut. At age twelve he heard Steve Harris of Iron Maiden and asked "What instrument is that?" At age fourteen, a facination with punk rock bands such as Dead Kennedys inspired Todd to pick up the bass. Four years later Todd developed an obsession for Afro-cuban and Funk based music. In 2000 this obsession led Todd to Cuba where he studied Cuban music first hand. Todd has been greatly influenced by the music of Juan Formell and James Brown, as well as the bass playing of Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Fransic "Rocco" Prestia, William "Bootsy" Collins and a host of other great bass players with cool nicknames. Todd Byrne can be heard playing regulary in the San Diego area.
