Fred Van Lente has been a comics fan as long as he can remember, initially hooked by his father's copy of Jules Feiffer's landmark anthology The Great Comic Book Heroes. As an undergraduate, Van Lente joined the comic-book club at Syracuse University and met artist Steve Ellis, with whom he created indie super-crime comic The Silencers. That work got noticed by editor Mark Paniccia at Marvel, where Van Lente soon introduced a heroic new Scorpion in Amazing Fantasy. Since then, the versatile Van Lente's many Marvel assignments have included three New York Times-best-selling entries in the Marvel Zombies series, as well as Amazing Spider-Man, Incredible Hercules, X-Men Noir and Iron Man Legacy.
Artist Michael Gaydos honed his craft at the Cleveland Institute of Art --- going on to become an accomplished illustrator, painter and printmaker. Gaydos first collaborated with writer Brian Michael Bendis on the crime-noir series Jinx, followed by their critically acclaimed partnership on Alias for Marvel Comics. During the last decade, Gaydos' work has been published by DC, Image, Tundra, NBM, Caliber and White Wolf --- highlighted by turns on the famed anthology Negative Burn, The Crow and the new original graphic novel Heaven's War. In 2005, he reunited with Bendis to illustrate a milestone in Jessica Jones' life: the birth of her baby in the pages of The Pulse.
Veteran writer and editor Roger Stern wrote well-received runs of Amazing Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, among other titles. During his ASM run, he introduced Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau), the Hobgoblin (Roderick Kingsley) and other major Marvel figures. He also helped launch West Coast Avengers, just one of his contributions to that franchise; others include a long stint as monthly writer and work on multiple miniseries: Avengers Forever, Avengers Infinity, Avengers Two and X-Men vs. Avengers --- plus runs on Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. His graphic novel Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment provided major developments for Marvel's most prominent super villain. At DC, Stern was a core Superman writer in the post-Crisis era, best known for his role in one of comics' most shocking events: the 1992 "Death of Superman" saga. In addition to stints on most Superman titles of the time, he also contributed to the Green Lantern and Legion of Super-Heroes franchises. His later work includes scripts for European publishers Egmont and Panini UK, as well as Dynamite Entertainment. He has written three Superman novels. Stern's return to Marvel has included stories in Giant-Size Incredible Hulk, X-Men: Odd Man Out, Captain America and Amazing Spider-Man.
Lee Weeks followed the legendary John Romita Jr. as artist on Daredevil, his dynamic illustrations soon establishing him as a talented illustrator in his won right. He has gone on to pencil projects such as Batman Chronicles: The Gauntlet, Incredible Hulk, Gambit and Captain Marvel.
