This book is a sports manual on hunting. The author, known only by his initials, spent many years of field work, beginning in 1772. His book is rich in detail. For example, it gives recommendations where to purchase good weapons and even how to choose a dog, while it is still a puppy, how to feed it and to train it for the great day when it will be a good hunting dog. This book is a unique source of information about the sport of hunting, as it was practiced in Europe in the eighteenth century.

"In modern America, the sport of hunting is a controversial matter. It would be insensitive to ignore those who consider this biblically old activity a disgrace to modern man....(but hunting is) a diversion that took place in civilization at the first period of the iron age and is still part of our modern way of life." - Professor Michael Holden, Delaware State University"
