Colin Garratt lives in a small Leicestershire village overlooking the bridge from which he watched his first steam train in 1949. That bridge was the starting point of his world wide travels recording in words and on film the survivors of the steam age. He has already covered some thirty countries and is still running a desperate race against time, as every country in the world has declared against steam traction and many have already eradicated it.
Colin undertakes an annual season of lectures for the Pentacon Praktica manufacturers of cameras and lenses, and his personal lectures and slide tape portfolios - based on his travels - are popular with schools and societies. He also takes photographic classes and contributes to various magazines.
