I have written Intermezzi (two parts, longer Papillons) and an Allegro di Bravura, of whose publication I will notify you, for the Easter fair. During the past winter, my time has been occupied by a grand orchestral symphony, which is now finished. Without vanity, I expect the utmost from it iu the future. I play the piano but little now: don't be frightened (I am resigned, and consider it a dispensation of Providence). I have a lame, broken finger on my right hand; from an injury insignificant in itself and neglect, the evil has grown so great, that I can hardly use the hand. Expect full accounts in my next letter of this, and of my present circumstances (which are very pleasant), my reception in the musical world (which could not be more encouraging), my plans for the future, and my quiet life, which, in contrast with... illegible prospects in Heidelberg, is temperate, busy, and orderly.
