"Each chapter has been written by leaders in the field, with the authorship remaining mainly North American and European in origin. There s a consistent chapter structure throughout the two volumes with easily readable text, and appropriate use of subheadings, figures and black and white plates. There is an extensive bibliography at the end of each chapter. The text remains comprehensive in this discussion of the range of renal disease, although discussion of the management of renal failure remains relatively brief as necessitated by the need to keep the text to a manageable size. One of the strengths of the current edition is the discussion of management options in various clinical settings. Overall, the current edition of 'The Kidney' cements its position as one of the pre-eminent textbooks of nephrology. It remain an invaluable text for nephrology clinicians, trainees and scientists.?
