Both books combine the proven paths to reading - developing sight vocabulary, phonic awareness (the link between sounds and letter patterns) and a fascination for stories. The "Parent point" on every spread explains the purpose of the activity at the point at which the child does the exercise. There is a "Skills checklist" at the back of the book. Emphasis is on understanding clues to reading the written word (word attack skills). Includes focus on the first, middle and final sounds and rhyme. The interactive card insert features a rhyming snap game.
