In 1907, August Strindberg and the young actor-director, August Falck, founded the Intimate Theatre in Stockholm: not only were twenty-six of Strindberg's own plays performed here but a number of acting and staging concepts which are de rigeur in theatre today were first trialled here. These uniquely frank letters illuminate a pivotal period in the great playwright's life as well as the meaning and realisation of dramatic art.
