This edition of the standard text for introductory physics courses taken by science and engineering students has been extensively revised, with new artwork and updated examples. A wide range of innovative pedagogical features have also been added. Twentieth century developments such as quantum mechanics are introduced early on, so that students can appreciate their importance and see how they fit into the bigger picture. Also included are: side by side worked examples; "picture the problem" sections precede and "remarks" sections which complete each worked example; and "try it yourself" self-checks which appear periodically throughout each chapter. New to this edition are: enhanced worked examples; "put it in context" examples; media links fully integrated with its companion Web site; mastering the concept worked examples; enhanced focus on misconceptions; 20 per cent new end-of-chapter problems; additional estimation/approximation problems; more engineering and biological applications; additional chapter opening pedagogy; and an improved photograph and art programme.
Biografía del autor
PAUL A. TIPLER formerly taught physics at Wesleyan University and Oakland University in Michigan. He is also the author of the widely used text Modern Physics 4th edition. - GENE P. MOSCA teaches at the U.S.Naval Academy and co-authored the study guides for the third and fourth editions
