Sinopsis
After his father dies of leprosy, eighteen-year-old Hans leaves Norway with his widowed mother and two younger sisters for America. Working as a lumberjack and helping build one of the first railroads in Minnesota, he earns enough money to start his own homestead in Norway Lake, Minnesota. Surviving blizzards, disease, grasshoppers, the death of four of his children and his wife at an early age, he goes on to become known by his neighbors as the "Wheat King".
