Grade 4-7-- A complete revision of Brian Ward's earlier edition (Watts, 1981). While much of the information remains the same, the text has been totally rewritten and is a notable improvement. The writing is now smoother, more flowing, definitely more "reader friendly" than the older text. This is at least partially achieved by a new format. While the same length as the previous edition, this one has slightly larger pages, with more information packed into captions. Blue-shaded inserts are scattered through the text, and discuss health and care of the various body parts. The finely detailed, full-color original illustrations have been retained, but have been supplemented by color photographs, which offer some attractive variety. Content here is very close to Jacqueline Dineen's The Skel eton and Movement (Silver Burdett, 1988), which sports a nearly identical cover photo as well as title. Both discuss the skeleton, bones, and muscles, but Dineen devotes more space to health care, artificial limbs, and the like. The titles complement one another well enough so that most libraries will want both. --Denise L. Moll, Lone Pine Elem . School, West Bloomfield, MI
