Book Description:

Parasitism: The Diversity and Ecology of Animal Parasites is the first comprehensive parasitology textbook to explain parasitism from an ecological standpoint. The relationship of the parasite to its environment is stressed. The fact that this environment is often alive makes this viewpoint even more fascinating. All of the major groups of animal parasites are examined, but also their biogeography, communities, evolution, and the way they influence the populations of their hosts. The immunological, pathological and biochemical implications of parasites are also discussed.

About the Author:

Gerald W. Esch is Charles M. Allen Professor of Biology at Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA, where he has taught for forty-seven years. He is widely regarded to be one of the world's leading ecological parasitologists and served as Editor of the Journal of Parasitology for nineteen years.
