'Discussion in classroom was stimulated in a very intelligent way in which pupils interacted among themselves. Pupils were engaged in conversation in which they learnt, not only from the book, but also from their classmates.' 'I recommend the book to all colleagues who are sometimes tired of the subjects in their coursebooks, to those who have pupils who feel shy about speaking, and to those who want to organise classroom activities centred on their learners.' Authentically English Issue 3, 1997
'I found the activities I tried worked well with both teenagers and adults. The teenagers especially seemed to appreciate the puzzle element and the fact that they added to their general knowledge as well as learning English. In short, the books passed the 'desk test' - every time I tried to write this review I found one of my colleagues had borrowed the copies from my desk!' IATEFL Newsletter, 1998
'English for Business Communication is full of interesting and varied awareness-raising activities concerning both style, and cultural differences. It is a useful resource book, easily dipped into, and useful for either stimulating discussion, looking at the importance of style (i.e. formal, informal, direct, neutral, warm, distant etc.), or presenting the language necessary for operating in the various skills areas. The format is traditional, although the subject is not, so it creates a feeling of security in students used to a prescriptive approach. Worth adding to the Business English shelf.'
