Descripción Hardcover. Condición: Very Good Plus. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good Plus. Looks like the Second Printing. The first edition was published in 1968. There are very few copies of the 1968 or 1969 printings for sale. This book was previously owned by the renowned sociologist Daniel Bell. However, he did not write his name or make any markings within the book. You can see the book in the last couple of photos. The covers are exceptionally clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright and shiny. The cover edges and corners are in very good shape. The only cover wear is some crinkling at the top edge of the spine (see fifth photo). The page edges are perfectly clean. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in excellent condition as well. The pages are exceptionally clean. That includes the white inside covers and end papers. I'm not seeing any soiling anywhere. The condition of the pages is top-notch I'm not finding any turned-down corners or placeholder creases. There is one imperfection on page 23-24, it was cut too long near to the bottom corner and Dr. Bell folded in the corner. There are a great many illustrations throughout the book, a few of them are in color. They are all in excellent condition. Here are the titles of the chapters: The Greek and Roman Theatre, The Medieval Theatre, The Theatre of the Italian Renaissance, The Elizabethan Theatre, The Golden Age of Spain and France, The English Restoration Theatre, The Theatre in Eighteenth-century Germany, France before the Revolution, The Early Nineteenth-century Theatre, The Late Nineteenth-century Theatre, Ipsen, Chekhov and The Theatre of Ideas, and The Modern Theatre. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It looks very clean. There are no tears. There is a light and smooth spot of rubbing on the rear cover. There's a little crinkling at the top edge of the spine. The flaps are in very good shape, clean, no conspicuous wear. The author was a graduate of the universities of Oxford and of France. She was the editor of The Oxford Companion to the Theatre. For years she was the lecturer on theatre history at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Nº de ref. del artículo: 004571
