Reseña del editor:
Special purpose microprocessors such as the TMS320 family of processors have been used in digital signal processing (DSP) since the early 1980s when the first devices were introduced. These devices, made possible through advances in integrated circuits, are used in a wide range of applications such as speech processing, telecommunications, and instrument design. These devices have also found their way into the university classroom where they provide an economical way to introduce signal processing to students. Digital Signal Processing with C and the TMS320C30 introduces the principle, and applications of DSP using the TMS320C30 - a state-of-the-art digital signal processor designed by Texas Instruments. The book was developed at Roger Williams College where the author teaches. It is intended primarily for senior and first-year graduate students in electrical and computer engineering and as a tutorial for the practicing engineer. The requisite background for students is an electrical engineering system course, a knowledge of assembly language, and high-level language such as C. The book explains difficult concepts using a practical approach and easy-to-read writing style. Most chapters begin with a theoretical discussion followed by representative examples (a total of 85 examples are provided). Programming examples using both C and TMS320C30 code are included throughout the text. The text includes a disk containing the programs discussed by the author as well as a "homemade" filter design package. This book is written with the conviction that the principles of DSP can best be learned through interaction in a laboratory setting. The student will appreciate the concepts of DSP throughreal-time implementation of experiments and projects in a laboratory environment. This book also will be very useful for the professional who is familiar with both DSP and C programming but who is not necessarily an expert in both.
