The award-winning author of Winter's Heat presents the conclusion of the five-part Graistan Chronicles, a historical romance between a medieval apprentice and a young woman promised to another man.
Johanna of Stanrudde, wife to Katel the Spice Merchant, hates the man her father forced her to marry almost as much as she hates Robert of Blacklea, the man who stole her heart and her virginity then abandoned her. But as famine walks the land this winter, Johanna discovers her husband's plot to destroy Rob who is newly returned to Stanrudde. After Rob saves her from a mob of the starving can she stand aside and let Katel kill him or find the faith to trust Rob when he vows that he still loves her?

So, here you are, looking at the fifth of my Graistan Series, the stories of the FitzHenry boys. The previous four books were: #1, Life in a Medieval Castle (Winter's Heat), #2, Life in a Medieval Town (Summer's Storm), #3 was Life on a Medieval Manor (Spring's Fury) and #4, Medieval Sheriffs and Politics (Autumn's Flame). And you thought they were just novels. I needed another book, but what to do?
"So now what?" I asked my brilliant son Justin after I finished Autumn's Flame.
His answer: "You haven't done one about the bastard son of the maid."
And, boom! Just like that, Rob appeared and I got to explore The Medieval Merchant's Life in A Love for All Seasons
I was ten before I realized the cosmos played a terrible joke on me. I was in the wrong century! While everyone else studied computers and listened to rock music, I wrote a history assignment in Egyptian hieroglyphics and spent endless hours designing ball gowns for Marie Antoinette. I taught myself what every true lady must know: how to sew a fine seam (by hand), to embroider skillfully, and to play an instrument (piano, and nothing later than Beethoven, thank you). I did my best to fit in with the rest of modern society, running two property management companies and inventing an electric lock, only to realize happiness for me meant historical research. Now, writing is my time machine and words recreate the vitality of eras where I feel more at home. Not only do I experience the drama of their time, but I do so with indoor plumbing. Enjoy!
