Críticas:
'Underwood Pathology' is one of the great brand names of medical undergraduate textbooks. The brilliance of the book is in making concepts clear enough to grasp, without skimping on the detail. The format and layout of this latest edition are virtually identical to the excellent 3rd edition, the most notable difference being the great thickness of the newer text. Underwood has always been the best book on the market, in my opinion, and this updated version further improves this 'classic'. Highly Commended (Basic and Clinical Sciences category), 2005 BMA Awards
This book, unlike some of its competitors, is written specifically for the medical student. It does not attempt to cover material more applicable to the MRCPath trainee. It places pathology in the context of modern medicine and cellular and molecular biology. The book is structured around the basic principles of pathology, the mechanisms of disease and then the systematic pathology (ie disease as it effects the different organ systems). Each chapter in the systematic section starts with a brief account of the normal structure and function of the organ or system, emphasizing those aspects which are important to an understanding of the disease processes. The entire book is illustrated with a superb collection of macro photographs, histopathology and graphics.
