Celia Warren has written numerous stories and poems for young people, many of which have been broadcast on television and radio. Some of her poems have been set to music. She lives in Devon, England. From School Library Journal:
Gr 4-7-- Too little plot and too many Briticisms (``It'll be neither nowt nor summat when it's all there'') result in a story which will appeal to few readers. Tall tales about a mysterious wild ghost dog become frighteningly real for young Billy. Entwined with Billy's apprehension about encountering the wild dog while performing his farming chores are his concerns about his sister's marital problems. Eventually his family pulls together to resolve Sandra's problems and shows courage and humanity in rescuing the ghost dog from would-be hunters. Despite a happy ending, there is little to recommend Ghost Dog ; most readers of the intended age and interest group will be confused by the British working-class slang and grammar. --Jeanette Lambert, LaVega School, Waco, TX
