Sinopsis
This book provides situations and issues that teachers may encounter when working with ELLs, and offers grade-level appropriate solutions, teaching approaches, and activities to address them. Each chapter opens with a brief overview of relevant research and key teaching principles. The book is framed around real questions from real teachers in the field and offers strategies related to oral communication, reading, writing, assessment, special need students, and home school issues. Acerca del autor

Katharine Davies Samway is Professor of Education at San José State University, where she teaches courses in reading/language arts, assessment, writing, and multicultural literature for children and young adults. Her research focuses on the literacy development of English language learners (particularly their writing development and processes), and influences on teachers' beliefs and practices. She's the author of Myths and Realities, second edition (2007), Buddy Reading (1995), and the co-author of Literature Study Circles in a Multicultural Classroom (1996).
Dorothy Taylor is Associate Professor at the Educational Opportunity Center, SUNY at Buffalo, where she teaches English as a Second Language to adult immigrants and refugees. She has taught English language learners from Kindergarten to 80 years plus. She has published and presented on reading and writing processes, technology-assisted instruction, and ESOL standards.
