Una is 21 and has just left university. She knows she will soon have to decide what to do with her life but right now she just wants to have fun. When her boyfriend Rob pulls out of their planned round-the-world trip, they break up and Una starts to grapple with her future. Meanwhile, her parents, Helen and Philip, decide to travel round Europe in an old camper van. Their journey awakens painful memories of the unusual circumstances in which they met and the way their lives have changed subsequently - a past they have kept a closely guarded secret. The sudden death of Una's father brings to light their past, and while Una is severely affected by it, it also helps her decide what to do with her life - and get back together with Rob.
