An examination of the above types of multiple-layer coils shows that the current distribution in the cross section is essentially the same as that of a simple circular coil of rectangular cross section, and the inductance may therefore be calculated by the same for mulas as apply to the latter case, provided that an appropriate correction be made for the space occupied by the insulation.
