With the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards created the riffs, the lyrics and the songs that roused the world, and over four decades he lived the original rock and roll life: taking the chances he wanted, speaking his mind, and making it all work in a way that no one before him had ever done. Now, at last, the man himself tells us the story of life in the crossfire hurricane. And what a life. Listening obsessively to Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records as a child in post-war Kent. Learning guitar and forming a band with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones. The Rolling Stones' first fame and success as a bad-boy band. The notorious Redlands drug bust and subsequent series of confrontations with a nervous establishment that led to his enduring image as outlaw and folk hero. Creating immortal riffs such as the ones in 'Jumping Jack Flash' and 'Street Fighting Man' and 'Honky Tonk Women'. Falling in love with Anita Pallenberg and the death of Brian Jones. Tax exile in France, wildfire tours of the US, 'Exile on Main Street' and 'Some Girls'. Ever increasing fame, isolation and addiction. Falling in love with Patti Hansen. Estrangement from Mick Jagger and subsequent reconciliation. Solo albums and performances with his band the Xpensive Winos. Marriage, family and the road that goes on for ever. In a voice that is uniquely and intimately his own, with the disarming honesty that has always been his trademark, Keith Richards brings us the essential life story of our times.

Amazon Best Books of the Month, November 2010: It's hard to imagine a celebrity memoir--or any memoir for that matter--that is as easy to drink in (so to speak) as Keith Richards's Life. Die-hard Stones fans will love tales of the band's ascension from the "interval" band at the Marquee to the headliners at Super Bowl XL; guitar gearheads will scramble to sample the one lick that has eluded Richards for 49 years; and historians and romantics alike will swoon over the raspy, rambling, raucous detail of this portrait of the artist in situ. Yes, some tales are told, but Life is refreshingly not gossipy, mean-spirited, or sordid--or at least not more than the truth demands. Richards is as comfortable in his bones as a worn pair of boots, and Life captures the rhythm of his voice so effortlessly that reading his tale is like sharing a pint with an old friend--one who happens to be one of the most iconic guitarists of all time. --Daphne DurhamAbout the Author:
Born in Dartford in Kent in December 1943, Keith Richards continues to compose, play songs and tour with the Rolling Stones.

The providence of this book is that I obtained it by personally queuing outside Waterstones Bookstore, 203/206 Piccadilly, London, United Kingdom, W1J 9HD, on 3rd November 2010. Due to London traffic, I arrived much later in the morning than many people (and friends) in the queue, who had been there since the previous evening. The first 150 people in the queue with gold wristbands were guaranteed to meet Keith Richards, with a further 110 people being issued with black wristbands. People with black wristbands were told it was likely they would get to meet Keith but it was not guaranteed. I had black wristband number 106. Once up on the bookstores first floor, Keith’s PR and security people told us that we were not allowed to take photos of him or with him. I was incredibly fortunate to meet Keith, watch him personally sign my copy of Life in the book’s title page and shake his exceedingly gnarled hand. I think there were only four people with black wristband in the queue after me who got to meet Keith and get their copies of Life signed directly. The book will be sold with the black wristband number 106. Signed by Author(s). Nº de ref. de la librería WFTB #006
