Excerpt from Tacheometer Surveying: With Special Notes on Plotting, Care and Adjustment of Instruments, Field Work, and Calculations
The penultimate chapter is devoted to the adjustments of the tacheometer, with a short description of recent and practical modifications of the instrument; in the final chapter the principles of construction of a slide-rule are elucidated, and the application of the instrument to the re duction of field notes is briefly explained, in the hope that students may be led to abandon the slow and laborious use of tables, at least for such purposes as this.
