Dale-town, a township, in the parish of hawn by, wapentake of birdforth, N. Riding of york, 95 miles (n. E. By E.) from Thirsk; containing 49 inhabit ants. This township is near one of the sources of the river Rye, and comprises by computation 2000 acres of land, partly open moors it includes a lofty and exten sive cliff, called Peak Scarr.
