Concurrent resolution expressive of the appreciation of the General Assembly of the resolution of congress directing the return of the captured Confederate flags and providing for the future custody of said flags. Be it Resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring therein: First. That the gracious act of the congress of the United States in adopting, and of the President of the United States in approving, the resolution directing the return to the several States of the flags theretofore in the custody of the war department, including certain flags borne by Arkansas regiments during the war between the States, and captured from them in battle, is most wot thy of graceful acknowledgment and that the thanks of this General Assembly, in its own behalf, as well as in behalf of the people of the State of Arkansas, among whom are yet a few of the brave men who made these colors glorious, besides many of their descendants, be, and are hereby tendered to the Congress and President of the United States for the adoption and approval of said resolution, and to the secretary of war for promptly carrying the same into effect, with assurance of most cordial appreciation. Second. That the offer of the Arkansas division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, made through its president, to become the permanent custodians of the flags returned to the State of Arkansas, be, and the same hereby is accepted, and the Governor of the State of Arkansas is hereby requested to deliver each and all of said flags received by him from the secretary of war to the president of the Arkansas division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, for which the adoption of this resolution shall be his and her sufficient warrant.
