Based on the original syllabus for the Mayo Cardiovascular Review Course, this book offers an excellent resource for those preparing for the certification exams as well as for trainees and clinicians wanting to update their knowledge of cardiovascular diseases. (Doody's Notes, May 2013)
Mayo Clinic Cardiology: Concise Textbook edited by Dr. Joe Murphy and Dr. Margaret Lloyd has again redefined the art of boiling down overwhelming concepts in a merciful manner for practicing cardiologists. With plain dialogue complemented by diagrams and tables, residents and fellows can build a solid knowledge base in cardiovascular disease, as well as prepare for board exams. I would strongly recommend this textbook as a learning tool and reference to guide your cardiology practice. (Carmelo Panetta, MD, HealthEast Heart Care, St Paul, MN)
I first became familiar with Mayo Clinic Cardiology when reviewing for my first recertification exam in Cardiology. One of my cardiology fellows leant me a copy of the First Edition. It was extremely easy to read, and I felt prepared for the recertification exam. I again used this textbook, Third Edition, for my second recertification exam... The Fourth Edition, much like the Third Edition, reaches an excellent balance of being comprehensive while remaining extremely readable... It is an excellent resource for anyone preparing for certification or recertification in cardiology. I would recommend a cardiology fellow devote six months to reading the textbook cover to cover. They will find it well worth the time invested. The practicing cardiologist will be able to cover the text book in a month. They will find it both an excellent review and an efficient way to learn new information. (Howard Kurz, MD, FACC, Cardiovascular Division, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO)
Congratulations to the editors and their esteemed group of authors on an excellent new edition that is a comprehensive, up to date, and state of the art textbook on the entire spectrum of cardiovascular medicine and disorders. This book could serve as essential reading material for internal medicine residents and , particularly, trainees in cardiovascular diseases, including for preparation for board exams. Additionally, this textbook would be a thorough resource for busy practitioners, including those in primary care and specialists, who care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
