The best descriptions are short, eye-catching and intriguing. They should be no more than 2 or 3 paragraphs long at most and should get straight to the subject or story.
There's no need to summarise the entire plot or content, or bog the reader down in unnecessary detail. Think about what will grab people's attention and what are the key things the reader really wants to know. It's better to leave them wanting to know more than have them lose interest.
Remember that this will be read by multiple audiences (consumers, customers and press) so avoid hard-selling or trade-specific language.Biografía del autor:
A strong and well-thought out biography can make a huge difference in how an author, and their books, are perceived by both trade, reviewers and consumers.
Key things to include here are: awards won, author location, bestseller success (ie 'X is the Sunday Times bestselling author of. . . '), NYT bestseller success, how many books they have written and the title of their most well-known one.
Try to avoid uncorroborated hyperbole and irrelevant space fillers (pets!) and instead focus on one or two things which might pique the interest of booksellers and reviewers ie a quirky personal fact or relevant previous experience.
