A comprehensive survey of the principles and applications of forecasting in the world of commerce, this text includes the theory necessary for a statistics course. Examples are included, and cases and applications are drawn from a variety of sources, as is the forcasting data disk. Methods and theories such as state space, bootstrapping, Box-Jen kins, ARIMA intervention analysis and modern data analytic techniques are discussed. Also included is graphical data analysis and a Master Forecasting Summary Table. This latter provides an overall perspective of the forecasting process by highlighting the effectiveness, advantages and disadvantages of various methods. The text contains output from various forecasting software packages, such as SAS, SYSTAT, MINITAB, RATS, SORITEC, SPSS, and MicroTSP. International forecasting examples and data, along with mini cases, applications, problem sets and real data sets are included.
