In Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing revolution has transformed the relationship between buyers and suppliers. Under JIT, purchasing is done in small batches and ideally from a single source as opposed to purchasing large batches from multiple sources. The authors cover critical JIT purchasing topics such as implementation, benefits, problems and solutions. Their work is based on their research at many firms which have successfully implemented JIT purchasing. Specific companies include General Motors, Hewlett-Packard, Honda, Nissan and Sony.
