This book is addressed to 3 potential audiences: 1) undergraduate majors or beginning grad students in mathematics who wish a rapid survey of representation theory, 2) students in chemistry, physics, or geology who are studying in areas as crystallography and quantum mechanics; and 3) physical scientists who have experience with groups and characters which may be extensive but is not rigorous and they would like some sense of the math lying behind the techniques used in applications. Course prerequisite for author's course on this topic is semester of college level linear algebra and basic familiarity with elementary logic and set theory (including the abbreviation "iff" for "if and only if".)
