Descripción:

B00QPF89B6 1978 first edition The Franklin Mint (Exton, Pennsylvania), 8 5/8 x 5 1/4 inches tall vinyl case with snap closure, faded white lettering to front ('The 25th Anniversary of the First Ascent of Mount Everest Commemorative'), containing a certificate of authenticity, commemorative first day cover and coin and a descriptive card regarding the anniversary. The first day cover is signed by both Norgay and Hilary. Though the contents are pristeen, the vinyl case is slightly rubbed and edgeworn, and mildly warped. ~GG~ A commemorative created for the 25th anniversary of the ascent of Mount Everest, with the first day cover signed by both Sir Edmund Hilary (1919-2008) and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay (1914-1986), one of the few instances where the two signed an item at the same time and place (at a hotel in Chicago in 1978). Hilary and Norgay were part of the ninth British expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt. Hillary was named by Time as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. Following his ascent of Everest, Hillary devoted most of his life to helping the Sherpa people of Nepal through the Himalayan Trust, which he founded. Through his efforts, many schools and hospitals were built in Nepal. N° de ref. de la librería GG-1241-2040
