Acerca de

24 Exposures is set in a comfortable suburb of Québec City in the years following the ratification of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the second loss on the question of Québec’s independence from Canada. The Dubé family gathers to celebrate a birthday, with the commonplace concerns, rivalries, and woes of the middle class uppermost in their minds.

About the Author:

Originally trained as an actor, Serge Boucher has written four more successful plays since his first play, Natures mortes (Still Lives), was staged by Michel Tremblay in 1993. His second play, Motel Hel?ne, was performed in Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Toronto, and in France before being adapted for television, and was nominated for the Governor General's Literary Award in Drama. 24 Exposures (Portraits), ran for more than one hundred performances in Montreal, toured throughout Quebec, was staged in English at Calgary's Alberta Theatre Projects, and received nominations for both a Masque and the Governor General's Literary Award in Drama before being adapted for television. Avec Norm premiered at the Theatre d'aujourd'hui in 2004 and was nominated for a Masque for best new play. Serge's most recent play, Les Bonbons qui sauvent la vie (Life Savers), premiered at the Compagnie Jean Duceppe in 2004, has toured Quebec, and is ready for an English production. Serge Boucher is currently writing a television series for Radio-Canada.

Shelley is a Toronto-born, Montreal-based writer, dramaturge, and translator. Working from French, Spanish, and Italian, she has brought more than twenty-five plays into English, including Serge Boucher's Natures Mortes and Les Bonbons qui sauvent la vie. Shelley's translations have been produced at CBC Radio and on stages from coast to coast, and she was twice nominated for the Governor General's Literary Award in Translation. From 1994-1998 she worked for CBC Radio developing, adapting, and producing radio dramas for broadcast. Shelley also writes, story-edits, and directs for documentary film and television. She is working on a 'Jewishâ- adaptation of 24 Exposures.
