THE MEDLEY: A MONTHLY PERIODICAL CONDUCTED BY AN ASSOCIATION OF THE STUDENTS OF YALE COLLEGE. Complete Run of Three Issues bound Together. NEW HAVEN (Connecticut): Press of Whitmore and Minor, 1833. First Edition. Volume I, Numbers 1-3. Three numbers bound together in recent gray paper wraps, each issue complete from title page through last page, first number is 5.5x8.5", second and third numbers are 5x8", consecutive pagination, 166 pages. These three numbers comprise the COMPLETE RUN of this Very Short Lived Yale University Literary Journal. CONDITION: Shorelining / Dampstaining to the lower corner area of the first 54 pages (the whole of the first number); there is scattered foxing throughout all the pages, but the text is always clear beneath; the plain recent wrappers have the periodical's title hand written on the front cover. A solid, complete copy of these three original numbers. About the Medley (compiled from various old Yale sources found online): ******The Medley was a monthly periodical produced by an association of the students of Yale College, the leading spirit who is believed to have been Henry W. Ellsworth, class of 1834. Whitmore and Minor were the printers and publishers, and subscriptions were received at the bookstores of A. H. Maltby and Hezekiah Howe. The price was 75 cents. per quarter, payable on the delivery of the first number. Three numbers only were issued, each of 56 octavo pages, the dates being, March, April, and June, 1833. The main object of this periodical was the encouragement of literature, and it was to made up of tales, essays, reviews, and other productions of interest and amusement. The works were written either anonymously or signed with pseudonyms, as was the case for most Yale journals of the time. The Medley expected be long lived, but only lasted for 3 numbers. In its final number it proclaimed "Never say die!" yet it was shut down while the ink was still wet.******. N° de ref. de la librería
