Translation of title: Iceland's Thousand Years 930-1930: Kantata by Björgvin Guðmundsson based on the poem by Davið Stefánsson [David Stefansson] commemorating the thousanth anniversary of Iceland's parliament. Title page further states 'Fjolritat af hofundi ad Winnipeg, Canada, 1930', which translates as, 'mimeographed by the composers at Winnipeg, Canada, 1930'. DESCRIPTION: Closed tears at spine and spine (backstrip) partially loose , otherwise Very Good+ in printed card covers. Leaves/text block of sturdy paper stock. [2] 109 pages. 31 X 22 cm. This cantata and poem commemmorate the one thousand years of iceland's parliament. SUBJECTS: Cantata/Kantötur; Nótur (tónlist); Music; Icelandic millennium celebrations. ADDITIONAL ENTRY: Davíð Stefánsson 1895-1964. NOTE: Text (lyrics) in Icelandic. AUTHOR [CONDUCTOR/COMPOSER] BIO: The conductor/composer was an Icelandic musician resident in Winnipeg for fifteen years, between 1911 and 1926, and again about 1929-30, and was educated at the Royal College of Music in England [source: Kristjansson, page 437].
