It is both a practical guide and a look back at the lost golden age of steam. Branchline Britain takes you on a bygone journey from the South West up to the North of the British Isles. Special features along the way focus on unique parts of our railway hertiage including railway vehicles, transporting livestock, branchline staff and stations and trainspotters. The book contains an impressive array of nostalgic photographs, ephemera and memorabilia, many from the author's own, previously unpublished, collection.

Paul Atterbury is a life-long railway enthusiast and has written several books exploring Britain's railway heritage. He is especially interested in the way that rural life depended on the railways until the mid 20th Century. He has been a presenter of the Antiques Roadshow on TV for many years. Paul lives in a converted railway carriage near Bridport, Dorset.
