Self Wrappers. Condición: Collectible-Very Good. 31-page pamphlet. Uncut page edges. Unopened pages. Front cover mostly loose. The speaker opened his comments by stating his opposition to this bill. He continues: "The functions of this Government which, in time of peace, most materially affect the happiness of the People, are those which respect commerce and revenue. Ths bill before us touches both these great interests. It proposes to act directly on the revenue and expenditure of Government, and it is expected to act, also, indirectly, on commerce and currency.".

Wraps. Condición: Very Good. First Edition. 8vo. Pp. 29. Self wraps, sewn. A Very Good copy with an old mail fold. Note: We proclaim this a first edition, but three or four editions were published in 1838, without primacy. Per Webster, "there are persons who constantly clamor. They complain of oppression, speculation, and pernicious influence of wealth. They cry out loudly against all banks and corporations, and a means by which small capitalists become united in order to produce important and beneficial results. They carry on mad hostility against all established institutions. They would choke the fountain of industry and dry all streams." An instructive speech on the currency, invoking Washington, Madison and Jackson, and an impassioned argument against states' rights in the matter of a central bank.
