No Binding. Condición: Collectible-Very Good. Typed letter on official House of Representatives, Committee on Expenditures letterhead (8 x 10 1/2 inch) with Arthur Bates full signature dated April 8, 1909. Letter deals with property owned by L.T. Berliner of Corry, Pa. who wants to sell his property for $10,000, but the Treasury Dept wants to pay less. Arthur L. Bates (1859-1934) served Pennsylvania in the 26th & 25th congressional districts from 1901 to 1913. He attended Oxford University in 1882-83 and practiced law in Meadville, Pa. He was in the newspaper publishing business from 1899 on. Served as a delegate to the International Peace Conference at Brussels in 1905 and Rome in 1911. Active in the Republican Party of Pennsylvania. Letter has been folded in thirds with a rust mark from a paper clip in the upper right hand corner. Signed by Author(s).
